Filipendula rubra

Prefers consistently moist, fertile, humus-rich soil.  Needs room for spreading.  Light to bright pink astilbe-like blooms are held high on a long stalk, creating a beautiful appearance of wind-tossed foam or fluff.  Blooms occur in early to mid-Summer and last about 3 weeks.  Fern-like foliage.  Freely self sows. Can naturalize readily
