Grows in deep to partial shade and filtered sun. Flowers are heart shaped in red, pink and white. Doesn't like wine

 

Dicentra spectabilils.  Blooms in early Spring. Flowering may last more than 4 weeks in our cool mountains.  Dies back to the ground when hot weather arrives. An old fashioned perennial that blooms larger and more spectacularly each year

 

Dicentra exima. Does not die back in Spring. Is a native plant.
